Insights Searching

An experiment using google maps with the Insights Plugin, a plugin that allows you to search in the blog post for flickr images, video, google maps, wikipedia, and google. The two points on the map indicate my approximate morning walk to the subway (which I then take to the ferry and then the shuttle). (This map is actually very close to the same map that shows up on one of the iphone commercials.) I then used the same plugin to do a search for Improv Everywhere videos (who I’ll be drawing from for one of my spring classes), and then another search for non-copyright images from flickr.

The plugin seems to work well, but building complex maps is beyond its scope.

New Yorkers, the Night Of

This is a little late, but worth it. I don’t have any post election commments, but local film artist Vadim Newquist shot and edited this video that showed what my hometown was like when my man Obama broke through. Crazy. On the 5th, New Yorkers were actually making eye contact and saying good morning on the streets. You’ll enjoy this vid. Shows you what you can do with one man, one camera, and some editing.

Bill Viola, Reflecting Pool

The spectacle presents itself
simultaneously
as society itself, as a part of society,
and a means of unification.

As a part of society, it is the focal point of all
vision and all consciousness.

But due to the very fact that this sector
is separate, it is in reality
the domain of delusion

and false consciousness;

the unification it achieves
is nothing
but an official language

of universal separation.

One Question for the United Stupids of America

After you watch these two videos, I just have one question about the third. I don’t know much about Palin’s family but is this last girl related to her ?. . . and such for bailout package is for the healthcare reform, particularly because Roe v. Wade and you see I would like  . . . and such . . . to see the states handle that  especially when Putin rears his head and comes into the airspace of the United States of America, where do they go? Well, I personally believe that U.S. American are unable to do so because some people out there in our nation don’t have maps. Oh. uh. It’s gotta be all about job creation too, uh shoring up our economy and I believe and such that South America and such as Iraq and everwhere such as Alaska and I believe that our education over here should help the US because you can’t blink, you gotta be wired in a way and reigning in spending has got to accompnay tax relief for Americans and trade, we’ve got to see trade as opportunity not as a competitive . . . scary thing.

That’s a good point. What is the trade-off? What are WE trading? Because such as it’s in Iraq and South America such as a scary thing I believe such as for the bailing out the healthcare reform.

Bye, Shea

Ok, so today was the last day of the baseball season. Had the Mets won, they would have played a playoff game against the Brewers to make it to the play offs. I got on the elliptical at the gym in the sixth inning and they were down 2-0 to the Marlins. I don’t usually do more than 45 minutes, but I couldn’t leave for the sake of the game. I wound up spending two hours on the machine so that I could watch the bullpen give up two more homers in the eigth. The Mets couldn’t pull it together, not only marking another season where they gave up their lead in the final weeks but marking the end of any game that would ever be played at Shea. Like last year, people were crying on this same day. No matter how you slice it, always great times at Shea. There was no other kind of electricity.

USC Again

I’m continually impressed with the great work that the folks at USC do. Almost weekly, they serve as inspiration in one form or another. Here’s the writeup of their Youtube Channel. Does your U have one? In addition, here’s  Mark Marino’s unveiling of Pageflake, yet more inspiration.
